Material Monday Industry Special: London Design Festival 2018

Posted Last Tuesday by Katie Kubrak

In two weeks we officially kick of the month of September, which for London based creatives will be infused with creative experiences showcased through London Design Festival 2018 and London Design Biennale 2018. Some of the areas worth visiting will include Bankside Design District, Brompton Design District, Clerkenwell Design Quarter, Fitzrovia Design District, Marylebone Design District, Mayfair Design District, Pimlico Road Design District, Regent Street & St James’s Design District, Shoreditch Design Triangle, Victoria Connections Design District and West Kensington Design District.
Actively seeking innovations across colours, materials and finishes for design, this London Design Festival, we decided to share our insights and offer two of our workshops at an exclusively discounted rate of £49 (RRP: £350)! Closely monitoring arising industry trends, we decided to offer a workshop on the topic of sustainable food packaging and sensorial design.

Sustainable Food Packaging Design Workshop

Food Packaging Design requires an in-depth material insight in order to choose a solution that works best in terms of performance, sustainability and end of life.

With this workshop participants will learn about food packaging materials, production methods and designing for their end of life. This workshop will also introduce trends and market insights Nirvana CPH discusses in their newest ‘Food Packaging Insight Report’ that is to be released end of September.

Date: Tuesday, 18th September 2018

Morning session: 10am – 1pm

Afternoon session: 2pm – 5pm

Sensorial Design Workshop

Sensorial Design” is a design process that is being popularised by our materials expert through appearances such as TEDx conference. It is a creative approach in which a product, brand, experience or space is designed with a consideration for sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste.

Simply put, this workshop will introduce the participant to the process of designing with senses in mind. This workshop will also complement our interest to explore and innovate with materials, which was so far demonstrated through events as ‘London in Seven Scents’ exhibition (LDF 2017, link to video here) as well as ‘Tactility Speaks Paper’ exhibition (CDW 2018, link here).

Date: Tuesday, 25th September 2018

Morning session: 10am – 1pm

Afternoon session: 2pm – 5pm
