Tailoring & Shirting Packs

by Nirvana CPH

It’s 45 years since David Reiss set up his first shop, at Bishopsgate, on the fringes of the City of London, selling men’s suits to the area’s discerning financiers. With an emphasis on classic British cuts and quality materials, the brand quickly earned a reputation as purveyors of modern menswear that straddled the boundary between business and pleasure.

Over the course of almost half a century, Reiss has undergone global expansion and now boasts in excess of 150 stores worldwide. The new millennium saw the introduction of a womenswear line for the first time in the brand’s history; underpinned by Reiss’ long history in tailoring and commitment to modern elegance, it has proved an immensely successful addition to the brand’s arsenal, and was catapulted into the limelight in 2010, when Kate Middleton was photographed wearing Reiss for one of her official engagement portraits.

2010 was also the year that Reiss made a play for a greater slice of the luxury market, with the introduction of a bespoke tailoring service in its UK stores. Offering an array of materials, finishes and details across its suiting and shirting ranges, clients are invited to invest themselves in the manufacturing process and create a suit that is truly personal and unique.

With a suit, of course, it’s all about the presentation. And the same is true of the production process; a luxury service requires a luxury experience. That’s why we were asked by Reiss to produce the packs that would house the vast array of materials available for their personalised suits and shirts.

Using a 4mm board covered with Ratchford’s Colorado cloth, we produced separate packs for the tailoring and shirting elements of the project. The suit and shirt fabrics are presented in ring binders, while shirt collars and trims are housed in specially constructed clamshell boxes, lined with a highly tactile flock.
