Design Museum: Designing The Game
A mesmerising journey through the decades of design in football inspiring all football lovers and casual fans from the early 1900s boots and balls to the 1980s much loved shirt designs and the latest master-planning of the world’s most significant stadiums.
The exhibition truly encapsulated the best in the design innovation used in today’s boots, how the graphic design of team badges, kits and posters shape a club's identity.
The crossover between football design has never been more apparent in Fashion with the likes of Palace, Patta, Off-White and Bape all taking inspiration from the pitch and the terraces to create their own collections but also collaborations with football teams themselves with Jordan x PSG & Palace x Juventus.
With so much to see there was also time to sit back and watch Zidane, A 21st Century Portrait – in the exhibition, watch the remarkable 91 minutes long film by Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parenno portraying player Zinedine Zidane over the course of a single match.
The purpose of this visit was to get inspiration for the infamous Nirvana x Studio Blackburn collaboration around major tournaments… keep your eyes peeled later in the year for the 2022 iteration!
