To convey the importance of warm relationships, Royal Mail’s DM agency Proximity London devised the concept of a package that warmed up on opening, commissioning us to produce 40,000 units.
After researching different options, including US military food cans, gel hand warmers, microwaveable beanbags and medical heat pads, we found a factory in China that produced gel packs. We coordinated production during a three-day visit to Shanghai and developed the gel pocket warmer technology into a four-page foldable leaflet with colour-change, heat-activated text to match the Royal Mail’s corporate blue.
