With an illustrious 114-year history, boasting 32 domestic La Liga titles, 11 European Cups and a list of current and former players that reads like a who’s-who from the pantheon of modern footballing greats, Real Madrid are a force to be reckoned with. Second only to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys on Forbes’ 2016 list of the world’s richest sports teams, Los Blancos are a team with truly global appeal, attracting managers, players and fans alike with the allure of football that can thrill, excite and inspire.
Today sees the launch of Real’s brand new home jersey for the forthcoming 2016-17 season. The club’s long-standing partnership with shirt manufacturer adidas continues, and will see Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and the rest of Madrid’s galácticos line up in a collared number in, of course, the team’s traditional all-white.
To celebrate the release, we were asked by media agency We Are Social to produce an extremely limited run of luxurious seeding boxes, bearing the iconic branding of both adidas and Real Madrid. Using a classic hinged box construction, we elevated the finished product using a highly tactile Peltouch covering, and a connecting white grosgrain ribbon that makes the unboxing experience that much more satisfying. A revolutionary digital foiling technique brought vibrancy and depth to the club crest, while other printed elements were meticulously colour-matched to the club’s signature silver and blue.
On launch day, a series of videos were released, showing the new shirt being hand-packed into each box by one of the club’s superstars, before being sent on to a select group of influencers around the world. The clips – which feature Gareth Bale, Keylor Navas and James Rodriguez, among others – are available to view by following the links, and at youtube.com/adidasfootball.
